About the Position

Rocky Mountain Ski + Sport is looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and tech-comfortable eCom Development & Fulfillment Specialist to help grow and manage our online business.

This is a hands-on position combining e-commerce development, product listings, photography, order fulfillment, inventory, and customer service. On any given day, you may be creating Shopify listings, photographing ski equipment, improving product descriptions and SEO, packing online orders, correcting inventory, or helping customers on the retail floor.

We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, pays close attention to details, and can move between projects without needing constant direction.

This position is seasonal from October through March, with the potential to become a full-time, year-round position based on job performance and company needs.

What You'll Do

• Create and maintain product listings in Shopify

• Photograph new and used products for online sale

• Write and edit product descriptions, specifications, pricing, and SEO content

• Ensure product photos, variants, sizing, pricing, and inventory are accurate

• Organize online collections, categories, filters, and merchandising

• Identify products that need to be added to or improved on our website

• Help improve the overall online shopping experience

• Pick, pack, and ship online orders accurately and efficiently

• Assist customers with online orders, returns, exchanges, and questions

• Help maintain accurate online and physical inventory

• Assist with receiving, tagging, organizing, and merchandising products

• Help with basic digital marketing, graphics, or social content when needed

• Assist customers on the retail sales floor during busy periods 

• Support other store operations as business needs arise

What We're Looking For

• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly

• Shopify or similar e-commerce experience preferred

• Excellent attention to detail

• Strong writing, typing, and communication skills

• Comfortable working with spreadsheets and product data

• Comfortable taking pictures on an iPhone or basic camera and editing product photography in Canva or similar photo editing tool

• Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects

• Able to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities

• Comfortable interacting directly with customers in a retail store environment

• Willing to transition between e-commerce work, fulfillment, and the retail sales floor as needed

Ski and snowboard knowledge is a plus, but e-commerce skills, organization, attention to detail, customer service, and the ability to learn are more important.

Schedule & Remote Work

The regular schedule is Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM–6:30 PM, with Monday and Tuesday off.

This is primarily an in-person position. After completing the first 60 days of employment, some responsibilities may be eligible to be completed remotely from home based on performance, job responsibilities, and company needs.

Remote work is not guaranteed, and this position must remain available to work in-store as needed.

The right person will be equally comfortable building a Shopify listing, packing an order, photographing a snowboard, solving an inventory problem, or stepping onto the sales floor to help a customer.

Position Overview

The Retail Operations Lead is a hands-on leadership position responsible for helping ensure the store runs efficiently and that employees remain productive, organized, and focused throughout each shift.

This position functions similarly to an Assistant Manager or Shift Leader. While employees will not formally report directly to the Retail Operations Lead, this person will be expected to take a leadership role on the sales floor, delegate tasks and responsibilities, follow up with employees, identify what needs to be done, and ensure work is completed correctly and on time.

We are specifically looking for someone who already has experience managing and leading employees. The ideal candidate is comfortable giving direction, holding coworkers accountable, making decisions, solving problems, and stepping in wherever needed.

This is not simply a senior retail associate position. The Retail Operations Lead is expected to take ownership of the store's day-to-day execution and help management ensure that expectations are being met.

This position is initially a seasonal full-time role from October through March, with the possibility of transitioning into a full-time, year-round position based on individual performance and company needs.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Leadership & Staff Accountability

• Take a leadership role during assigned shifts and help coordinate the activities of employees working throughout the store.

• Delegate tasks and responsibilities based on store priorities, customer traffic, staffing levels, and operational needs.

• Clearly communicate expectations and deadlines to staff.

• Follow up on delegated work to ensure tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner.

• Keep employees focused and productive during slower periods rather than waiting for management to assign every task.

• Identify unfinished work, operational issues, or areas requiring attention and take initiative to address them.

• Redirect employees when priorities change or when staff are not staying on task.

• Help reinforce company policies, procedures, customer service standards, and workplace expectations.

• Communicate employee performance concerns, recurring issues, or operational problems to management.

• Serve as a dependable point of leadership when senior management is unavailable or focused on other areas of the business.

Retail Operations

• Help oversee the day-to-day operation of the retail floor.

• Ensure opening, closing, cleaning, stocking, merchandising, and operational tasks are completed.

• Maintain an organized, professional, and customer-ready sales floor.

• Help coordinate workflow between retail sales, rentals, service, inventory, and other areas of the store.

• Identify operational bottlenecks and help develop practical solutions.

• Ensure employees are following established procedures for transactions, inventory, rentals, customer pickups, returns, and other store processes.

• Assist management with implementing new procedures and ensuring employees understand and follow them.

• Perform opening and/or closing responsibilities as assigned.

Customer Experience

• Lead by example in providing knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient customer service.

• Assist employees with difficult customer situations, questions, or transactions.

• Help resolve customer concerns before they require escalation to senior management.

• Ensure customers are acknowledged and assisted promptly, particularly during high-volume periods.

• Help maintain an approachable, welcoming, and professional store environment.

Inventory & Merchandising

• Help maintain accurate and organized inventory throughout the store.

• Ensure products are properly tagged, priced, stocked, and displayed.

• Delegate stocking, merchandising, cleaning, and inventory-related projects to staff as needed.

• Identify inventory discrepancies or procedural issues and communicate them to management.

• Work with management and inventory staff to keep the sales floor appropriately stocked and organized.

• Assist with inventory counts, receiving, transfers, and other inventory projects.

Training & Employee Support

• Help train new and existing employees on store procedures, customer service expectations, products, and daily responsibilities.

• Provide employees with direction and constructive feedback during shifts.

• Help newer employees develop confidence and independence in their roles.

• Reinforce training when procedures are not being followed correctly.

• Help create a workplace culture built around accountability, teamwork, urgency, and mutual respect.

Seasonal & Special Projects

• Assist with preparation and execution of major sales events, seasonal transitions, promotions, and community events.

• Help coordinate staff and operational priorities during high-volume periods.

• Take ownership of assigned projects and ensure they are completed from start to finish.

• Be willing to assist in different areas of the business as operational needs change throughout the season.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience managing, supervising, or directly leading employees.

• Previous experience must include responsibility for delegating work, providing direction, following up on assignments, and holding employees accountable for completing tasks.

• Demonstrated ability to lead coworkers and maintain productivity without relying on constant direction from senior management.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to confidently give direction and constructive feedback to employees.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to make decisions when appropriate.

• Previous retail, hospitality, service, or other customer-facing management experience strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous retail management, assistant management, or shift leadership experience.

• Ski and snowboard industry experience.

• Knowledge of skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, rentals, and related outdoor equipment.

• Experience with retail POS and inventory management systems.

• Experience working in a seasonal or high-volume retail environment.

Extensive ski and snowboard knowledge is helpful, but strong leadership experience is more important. Product knowledge can be taught. The ability to lead people, delegate effectively, and hold a team accountable must already be demonstrated.

Schedule & Availability

This position works a consistent Friday through Tuesday schedule from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with Wednesday and Thursday as the regular days off.

Because this is a retail leadership position, candidates must be available to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday regularly as part of their regular schedule. Working on our around the holidays is also a requirement of this positon. The position may also be responsible for opening and/or closing the store as operational needs require.

The position is expected to run from October through March, with the possibility of continued full-time, year-round employment based on performance and company needs.

This is an active, hands-on retail position. Candidates must be able to:

• Perform normal stocking, merchandising, cleaning, and store-opening or closing responsibilities

A successful Retail Operations Lead does not wait to be told everything that needs to happen.

They walk into a shift, understand the priorities, recognize what needs attention, assign responsibilities appropriately, and follow up to make sure the work gets done.

Employees understand what is expected of them. Customers receive timely assistance. The store remains organized, and operational tasks continue moving forward even when senior management is occupied elsewhere.
